Koendidda Country House is situated in the Indigo Valley, 700m off the Indigo Valley Highway and 4kms from Barnawartha, 18kms from Wodonga and central to both outstanding North East venues such as the ski fields, Bright, Mt Buffalo, Beechworth, Woolshed falls, Mt Pilot, the historic towns of Chiltern, Rutherglen and the wine fields of all areas described.

Koendidda was established by the Pooley family on or about 1863 after they sailed to Australia and became ship wrecked on Fraser Island, walked to the Koendidda area and found their own weight in gold in the Alan Flat's area. They built an impressive house with materials largely imported from England and with handmade bricks made on site. The house represents a magnificent era of Georgian house style incorporating verandas that were peculiar to the Australian period. There is no other structure like Koendidda and it represents one of the finest examples of the best architecture and construction during the gold mining period. The Pooley family sold Koendidda in 1977 and it has been through a succession of four owners to this period. The present owner has owned the property since the year 2000 and has continued the business of the small boutique hotel or Australian Bed and Breakfast that it is so well known. Koendidda is set in the most luxurious garden that was also established back in 1863. The entrance is guarded by two large Oak trees of that period. One of the best examples of a Himalayan Cedar in the front formal lawn you will find in Australia.
