Fully Off-grid Lifestyle Country Cottage and Land
Tree change starter kit - get away from it all and still have everything.
This 7.5 sq Western Red Cedar cottage is situated at Upper Natone, not far from Lake Kara, on 25 acres of part bush / part cleared rich red volcanic soil with Blackwood trees, ferns and beautiful areas of rain forest. The land is a 17.6% share of a 140 acre parcel owned by several title owners as tenants in common.
Each of the property owners has a shack or dwelling on their share of the land. There are six shacks in all and each of them is very private and set well away from the others, excellent community feeling without being intrusive.
The cottage has a North Easterly aspect, is generously fenced for pet safety, catching the sun all day, open plan Baltic pine living area and Tassie hardwood flooring. There are two bedroom areas with a large walk-in pantry and a walk-in wardrobe . The bathroom has a shower/bath and a composting toilet. An Everhot slow combustion cooker heats the hot water, cooks wonderfully and warms the house, a gas heater further warms up the home on the coldest days. The recently installed solar system powers the house for all modern conveniences. Not sure of size, but the main building is bigger than a tiny house and smaller than town mansion. Solar system backed up by 2.4Kw petrol generator.
Big pile of logs, log splitter and a stihl 46magnum chainsaw to make light work of your firewood for heating and cooking needs.
Large cedar windows are for enjoying serene views overlooking state forest and Black Bluff. Kitchen includes a large stainless steel benchtop and separate wood and gas oven/cooktop The cottage is totally private with no roads, houses or other infrastructure in sight.
The land surrounding the cottage is landscaped with a paved BBQ area, massive deck with french doors and the remnants of an ornamental garden, including numerous daffodils and other bulbs. The property has three water tanks and a number of outbuildings including a one room studio with vintage wood stove and uninstalled solar system, artists workshop and a tractor shed. The property has great potential for market gardening, with a thriving population of Pepperberries and is inspiring for nature lovers, poets, writers, artists, or just a quiet lifestyle in one of Tasmania's most picturesque locations.
Equipment available (but not included in this price) includes 280L gas fridge/freezer, satellite tv and internet and machinery such as a large ride on mower, big petrol log splitter, Polaris diesel quad bike, rotary hoe, lawn mower, Suzuki DT200 farm bike and MF 135 tractor with a range of implements for farm use,
Parking for heaps.
Inspection strictly by appointment with owner only, email only please.
Update. I've had a few enquiries so I thought I should summarise the some aspects;
It's away from traffic and urban living, you'll have to be at peace with yourself/partner/dog to fully enjoy the place
You probably can't get a loan, because banks are more focused on millimetre perfect boundaries to take your land away if you miss a payment.
It snows in winter, so have a hobby or rug up.
Your Bugatti will get dirty on the access road.
Mobile coverage is poor (IP phone over internet is just ok) external antenna for phone helps a lot, phone with antenna socket included.
Update #2, price reduced as I'll sell the farm related equipment separately.
Inspection strictly by appointment only please.
